Large playing room

The main playing room The Grand Slam Bridge Centre offers comfortable seating in a fully air-conditioned spacious room. There is plenty of space between tables; the environment is relaxed, fun and friendly and the centre is located all on the ground floor.

There are two playing rooms, the main 'red' room and the smaller 'green' room which is often used for lessons, intermediate and supervised sessions.

Friendly Atmosphere

The Grand Slam's Members are what makes our centre such a great place to play bridge. We have people from all walks of life, all ages, who come together for the fun of bridge.

Our staff are very efficient and are only too happy to assist members or visitors with any requirements, such as finding partners for a game.

Grand Slam friendships have taken many different shapes over the years. Several couples who have married met at the Grand Slam, while others have simply found new friends, all sharing a common interest in bridge.

Lots of events

The Grand Slam hosts many bridge events, including lessons, competitions and holidays.

Our classes for beginners have always been very popular as you learn by play, not theory. Anne Weber has been teaching beginners the game of bridge for over 19 years and by the end of the four week course, you will have learnt the basics of bridge. You play cards throughout the entire course which makes learning fun and easy.

A range of intermediate lessons are held throughout the year and members receive three free lessons per year. Interstate teachers such as Paul Marston and Ron Klinger also hold lessons at the Grand Slam Canberra.

Our events include many honour board events (displayed to the right) and include; the summer pairs; winter teams; club championships and the Australia-wide Novice pairs.

Our holidays are always popular. In 2006, we have our Cragieburn (Bowral) weekend as well as an overseas trip for 21 days to Europe, including an Eastern Mediterranean Cruise! In 2004, we ran a similar trip to Canada and Alaska (as shown in the photo).
